ITU – Telecommunication Development Sector

Cintel has joined the Telecommunication Development Bureau of the International Telecommunication Union as a Sector Member thanks to our WorkForce Management solution TraceIS and our concept for Rural Telephony. The ITU-D is aimed at assisting countries in the field of ICTs, in facilitating access to these technologies and promoting actions that contribute towards narrowing the digital divide.

Cintel’s concept is based on a technology which relays the existing GSM signal to as distant area

so as to develop rural and isolated areas through an ICT access point shared amongst the local population.

Téléphonie Rurale

Our concept is made of 4 components :
- Use of the existing GSM infrastructure
- Deployment of hardened terminals with energy autonomy in call shops (telecom centers)
- Mutualisation of the telecom service
- Total supervision
of the telecom centers network

The benefits are mostly for the local individuals to  access ICT and development tools but also for the mobile operators (optimization of the legacy network) and the Regulator (answer to the Universal Service requirements).
